We’re the right kind of different.

Created in 2020, Informed Insight partners with organizations in a different way - by sharing our expertise with changemakers who are also ready to work for positive social change, embrace data, and get results at scale.

Our Story

Founder and CEO Daniela Pineda began her career working in mission-driven organizations to help promote educational opportunity and end intergenerational poverty. She quickly learned that many of the most consequential decisions at these organizations were not based on sound evidence or best practice, but rather they were at best based on unexamined routines and individual preferences.

This fueled her desire and commitment to demystify research, evaluation, data tools and frameworks that support organizations to be more impactful.

Informed Insight was born out of a desire to work differently, partnering with others who are also interested in creating positive social change, and who believe in the power of meaningful collaboration.

Daniela Pineda

Founder & CEO

Daniela is an experienced, collaborative leader who is passionate about helping organizations assess impact, adapt strategies, and invest in their staff. For philanthropic organizations, public grantmaking settings, evaluation firms, and nonprofits, she designs and implements planning processes to identify and clarify goals, processes, and resource allocations. She collaborates with organizations and funder collaboratives to craft new strategies and implement new programs. She devises tailor-made measurement, learning, evaluation, and knowledge systems to optimize organizational performance and operations.

Daniela brings over two decades of experience in strategy development, program design, impact measurement, organizational development, and capacity building to use data for decision-making.

Prior to founding Informed Insight, Daniela held roles in both private and public sectors, supporting grant makers, intermediaries, and nonprofit organizations as they seek to optimize their operations, strategies, and scale their impact. She was Vice President of Integration and Learning at First 5 LA, the largest early childhood funder in California where she was responsible for building, sharing, and activating organizational knowledge for greater impact. Daniela also served as Associate Director of Evaluation and Impact at Living Cities in Washington, D.C. There, she defined the strategic direction for all of Living Cities’ measurement, learning, and evaluation investments. Prior to that she was the inaugural Strategic Data Officer for the Gates Foundation’s postsecondary strategy, overseeing the implementation and assessment of national educational reforms in postsecondary access and completion.

Daniela has received research fellowships and recognition from MDRC, Mathematica Policy Research, New York University, the National Science Foundation, The Ford Foundation, and the Association for Institutional Research, among others.

Daniela has demonstrated her commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the social sector via several task groups that champion greater inclusivity in the workplace. Daniela advocates for and designs leadership development opportunities for Black and Latinx professionals. She has been recognized as a Change Leader in Philanthropy—as part of a new generation of leaders in philanthropy working to increase impact—by Grantmakers for Effective Organizations.

Tiffany Ferguson

Senior Consultant

Tiffany brings 10 years of experience designing and implementing programs that foster inclusive economic development, public sector innovation, and cross sector collaboration. She is passionate about supporting mission driven leaders to take risks, try new things, and implement rigorous learning and reflection practices that accelerate their impact. Tiffany has worked with municipal leaders, social entrepreneurs, community organizers, and funders to understand organizational readiness for innovation. Drawing on a range of research and design methods, Tiffany equips leaders and teams to innovate, iterate, and co-create with — not for — stakeholders.

Tiffany has worked in a variety of program roles deploying exciting new initiatives at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, Living Cities, and the Mayor’s Office of New York City.

Education:
  • Master in City Planning, International Economic Development
    Massachusetts Institute of Technology
  • Bachelor of Arts, Urban Cultural Anthropology and Dance
    CUNY Hunter College

Most recently, Tiffany was program director at The Workers Lab, a national accelerator for innovative ideas that can increase power for workers. Working at the intersection of workforce development policy, labor organizing, economic development/democracy, and community development, she has an extensive breadth of knowledge about cities and the levers of change within the urban ecosystem. Across these formative work experiences, Tiffany honed skills in urban policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, program strategy and execution, human centered design and rapid prototyping, strategic communications, and knowledge management.

Tiffany deeply believes that organizations that know how to learn, innovate, and foster inclusive environments for all staff to surface their best ideas are the organizations best positioned to drive social impact.

Trained as a dancer, anthropologist and city planner, Tiffany is keenly interested in issues of placemaking and economic opportunity; namely, how work and time spent not working enable people to lead thriving lives of aspiration and possibility. Tiffany’s favorite part of this work is working with — and in service of — practitioners.
