Have you ever struggled with making sense of how to describe your leadership development work? Whether you are designing a new program or you are a funder looking to invest in leadership development, it can be quite overwhelming to consider how you can focus your work.
We partner with organizations to help gain this clarity and focus. A typology of leadership development can be a useful tool to guide conversations, as you consider what is “in”, “out” and “core” to your program.
We love using the ORS typology of leadership development investments as a helpful reference point. The guide was developed with funders in mind as a key audience. But we find that it is a helpful resource that can be adapted to consider the components of a leadership development model- whether you are creating a new program or revamping or evaluating an existing program.
We believe that being able to name what are critical components and what will not be part of your program helps you create more effective programs.
